Overlooking the World Heritage site Ha Long Bay, the Wyndham Legend Halong hotel claims the first internationally branded five-star hotel in Ha Long city. To further expand the dining experience, Wyndham Legend Halong is pleased to announce the hiring of Mario Prestigiovanni as its new Culinary Director.
Mario Prestigiovanni was born and raised in Italy, after graduating from the Technical institute of Cefalu’ (Palermo) specialized in food and beverage, started his career as a chef de partie at Sheraton Hotel Firenze in 1992. He brings with him 12 years of experience in Europe and over 10 years of experience in Asia including Thailand, China and Sultanate of Oman. Mario spent a lot of his time learning with world-wide hotel brands like Sheraton, Novotel, Four Seasons & Shangri-la. He built a very strong foundation of classic Western cuisine, Asian culinary experience and a good knowledge of handling multiple properties which offered up to 19 food and beverage outlets.
For his contribution to culinary art, Mario was honored with the Oman restaurant awards between 2008 and 2010 in the category of the best Italian restaurant and the best Middle Eastern restaurant and recently being the Executive Chef of Four Seasons Chiangmai, Thailand, Mario is poised to be a one of the best in Halong.
“Mario will complete the full dining experience that Wyndham Legend Halong provides its customers,” said Rolf Opitz the general manager of the Wyndham Legend Halong hotel. “His mission is to introduce the excellent taste of Mediterranean and Asia to the local market and world-wide travellers”.
With the new mission, Mario will open De Medici restaurant and the Sakura restaurant respectively providing Mediterranean and Japanese authentic food from this October, 2016.
Wyndham Legend Halong boasts three restaurants, two bars and one open air café and bar offering a sumptuous array of dining options.
Blue Bay Restaurant is an all-day dining space offering Vietnamese cuisine, an international buffet and a la carte options. An authentic Japanese dining experience, Sakura Restaurant’s sushi bar offers the freshest seafood in a traditional setting. For a gastronomic insight into Vietnam’s rich heritage, modern French fare and Italian classics can be savoured at De Medici amidst views of the stunning sunset on Halong Bay.
