The impressive results of ASCOTT Vietnam's 'Reaching Out, Touching Hearts'

CapitaLand’s wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott) in Vietnam, shared the highlights from its 2017 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaigns, named “Reaching Out, Touching Hearts", at nationwide scale.

In the year of 2017, properties in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City have organized over 50 activities in their local communities in Vietnam, dedicated more than 3,000 volunteer hours, and raised a total of US$30,000 as well as in-kind donations for company’s charitable partners and local charities.

In line with CapitaLand’s CSR focus, Ascott Vietnam mainly embarks on initiatives that support the educational, healthcare and shelter needs of underprivileged children while also investing in environmental stewardship, in a hope to make a change in preserving resources for generations to come. 

Country General Manager, Vietnam, Lew Yen Ping expressed her delight with the efforts made in the year of 2017: “We are overwhelmed by the kind-heartedness of our guests, residents as well as all of my associates in Vietnam and would like to thank each and every one of them for their time and generosity. By donating these essentials, we hope to make a difference to the lives of people in need as part of our ongoing support to the communities where we operate.”

Highlights from the 2017 CSR Initiatives include philanthropic activities and environmental stewardship. 

Since the beginning of year 2017, a total amount of VND 650 million ($28,800) in charitable donations were made to improve the education and living conditions of over 2,300 underprivileged children as well as disadvantaged groups of people in Nam Dinh, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Binh Phuoc, Long An provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. 

Going beyond the 3 Rs of Reduce, Recycle and Reuse, Ascott Vietnam has implemented green practices to promote the conservation of water, energy and paper as well as to reduce waste. 

Ascott Vietnam has achieved the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications which are globally recognised standards for environmental management, and occupational health and safety management of businesses respectively. The certifications were awarded by internationally established certification organisation, TÜV SÜD.
